Quadratics Troubles ((Anyone)) « Thread Started on Aug 20, 2008, 6:50pm »
Jared walked into the library and looked around. He didn't go to the library very often. He found an empty table and went and sat down at it. He pulled his Math text book out of his bag, and then some paper and a pencil. He opened the book and started doing his homework. Normally Math came naturally to him and he never bothered with homework, but they were now doing Quadratics and he had no idea what the hell he was doing, and the unit test was the next day.
He didn't have a problem with the distributive property or factoring, and he was pretty good with the basic straightforward quadratics problems. Once he reached word problems, however, he was fucked. Even while using an example of another problem which required you to do the same thing, he couldn't do them.
An object in launched directly upward at 64 metres per second from a platform 80 metres high. What will be the object's maximum height? When will it attain this height?
"Ah fuck," Jared said, reading the question over again. He then just stared at it blankly, trying to figure out what to do. He wasn't having any luck.
